Anger is a completely normal and usually healthy emotion. But when it gets out of control and turns destructive it can lead to problems at work, in our personal relationships and our overall quality of life. About the course This anger management programme is based on cognitive behavioural principles. The course aims to help participants:
Group members are required to participate in group discussions about their anger, analyse their behaviour and complete basic homework tasks in the form of anger diaries, which will maximise the effectiveness of learned strategies. The course is a closed group, which runs for six weeks (each session lasting for two hours). In order to obtain maximum benefit from the course, participants are encouraged to attend all six sessions. What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)? Cognitive behavioural therapy is a very effective short-term therapy used to help people control their anger. Cognitive behavioural therapy is designed to produce changes in thinking, resulting in changes in behaviour or mood. About the facilitators The programme is delivered by qualified therapists, with many years experience working with clients with a variety of difficulties. The facilitators work on a voluntary basis and receive support, line management and regular external supervision from Self Help Services. Facilitators also receive on-going training for personal development and have undertook an Enhanced Criminal Record Disclosure Check. Donations As there are costs associated with providing this service that are not funded externally, we would appreciate it if you could kindly make a donation. Suggested donations are as follows: £10 per course for people who are currently in receipt of a means tested benefit (job seeker’s allowance, income support), in receipt of a state pension only or who are full time students living independently. £20 per course for all others.
