SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is a type of winter depression, which affects an estimated one million people in the UK every winter, in particular during December, January and February. In addition perhaps as many as ten million people are affected by ‘winter blues’ a mild form of SAD. The symptoms of SAD usually recur regularly each winter, starting between September & November and continuing until March/April. Lack of light causes SAD. Therefore, getting an extra daily does of light in the winter via light treatment/therapy works for 85% of people diagnosed with SAD. Who can access Lightbox Therapy? The light box is available to anyone experiencing emotional and/or mental health difficulties. Who delivers the service? This service isn’t delivered by anyone as such. The service is available by making an appointment with the Services Co-ordinator at Self Help Services
