Yoga has been practised for over 5000 years. The term ‘Yoga’ itself derives from the Sanskrit work ‘union’ indicating the relationship between the mind, body and spirit. Through a variety of physical postures and breathing techniques, the muscles are stretched and strengthened and nerve endings stimulated in order to improve the flow of energy through the body. Yoga can help to alleviate symptoms of stress and anxiety, headaches and migraines, fatigue, cold and coughs, back problems and rheumatoid arthritis, respiratory problems, digestive disorder, asthma, bronchitis and hay fever.
